How to rotate PDF pages and save the change

Fix pages that are sideways or upside down, and keep the fix in the file.

Why PDF pages end up sideways

Sideways pages are common, especially in scans. A scanner or a scanning app may feed a sheet in the wrong direction. A phone saves a photo with a note about how it was held, and a program that ignores the note shows it turned. A document may also mix portrait and landscape pages, such as a wide table in the middle of a text report, and one of them is stored the wrong way round.

Turning the view is not the same as saving

Most PDF readers have a rotate button. In many of them, this only changes how the page is shown on your own screen. When you close the file, or send it to someone else, the pages can be sideways again. If the file is going to someone else, or to an upload form, you need to rotate the pages in the file itself and save the new version.

How to rotate with Velfile

  1. Open Organize PDF (rotate pages) and choose your PDF (up to 100 MB).
  2. Small pictures of every page appear. To turn the whole document, press Rotate all right or Rotate all left.
  3. To turn only some pages, press the turn button (↻) under each of those pages. Each press turns the page 90° to the right, so press twice for an upside-down page.
  4. Check the pictures, press Save PDF, then Download PDF.

You get a new PDF, and your original file is not changed.

Which direction should I choose

If you are not sure, check the result before you download. If it is wrong, press the turn button until the page looks right.

Rotating only some pages

Often only a few pages are wrong. Rotating the whole file would fix those pages and break the others. Press the turn button only under the pages that need turning. For example, if pages 3 and 4 of a scan are sideways, turn just those two and leave the rest alone.

Each page can be turned a different way, because every page has its own button. You can also move or remove pages in the same visit, then save once.

After you rotate

The rotation happens in your browser, on your own device. The PDF is not uploaded to a server.
